I Am Maru Review
I'm a big Maru fan, so I was excited when the English version of the first Maru book came out. It's not a bad book, but three distinct things disappointed me about it:1) It's small. For some reason I was expecting something a little bigger, like maybe a coffee table book. This is like a handbook.
2) LOTS of repeat content from the popular web clips. I was expecting more original photographs.
3) Not a big surprise that there is repeat content from the web clips, but the content that is repeated, as well as most of the pictures in the book, appear grainy and from a lower resolution source than a normal book you'd find in a bookstore - makes the book seem cheap.
In its defense, it wasn't overpriced and I feel like I got what I paid. I would recommend it only to dedicated Maru fans, who will delight at anything that has to do with this cat. Those that are on the fence or aren't that familiar with him should avoid.
