Secrets of the Heart Review

You can read the description of the story provided by the author so I wont provide that here.
I have purchased and read in excess of 100 books in the lesbian romance genre alone in the last several months. There are certain authours you read one and think cool, I will buy another of her books and then you are either pleasantly surprised or mildly disappointed.
With Syd Parker, I purchased all three and in the span of 36 hours, read all 3 books.
In this book, Syd will pull at your heart strings! Its all about loss and the things we deny to ourselves. There is a lesson served up with this romance. Enjoy the learning :)
The relationships with friends were just as well written and central to the story as the main leads. What a refreshing approach.
I highly recommend you give this new authour a try!

Waking Up Gray Review

Lizbeth Jackson, aged forty and divorced is finally free. Free from her sham of a marriage, free from her cheating ex husband and free to lead her own life in any way she wants to.
She arrives on Ocracoke Island from her home in Durham to spend the following few months studying the Carolina brogue for her masters degree. She is at last fulfilling her dream which had been put on hold all these years after Lizbeth married James and had her daughter Mazie at nineteen. Mazie was the one good thing to come out of the marriage.
Lizberth is renting her late aunt Minnie's cottage from her cousins. Although Lizbeth hasn't been to Ocracoke Island for years, she soon settles in to life on the island, helped by her aunt's friend, Fanny O'Neal, from the cottage opposite.
When Lizbeth sees Fanny's granddaughter outside kissing a woman one night, Lizbeth can't get the sight out of her head. When Lizbeth meets Gray over at Fanny's cottage, Gray starts flirting with her and Lizbeth can't help feeling attracted to her.
Lizbeth and Gray begin to spend time together and Lizbeth finds herself falling for Gray in a big way. She decides to throw caution to the wind and go with her feelings. So what if Gray is a woman and Lizbeth has only ever been out with men? Gray however, doesn't want to allow herself to fall in love. She knows Lizbeth will leave the island to go back to her life in Durham and she feels she can't take the hurt and pain this would cause her. Gray has been hurt badly in the past. She knows what she feels for Lizbeth now would break her heart beyond repair if she actually fell in love with her totally.
But the inevitable happens, Lizbeth and Gray sleep together and they fall in love. But the course of their love is to be rudely interrupted by an ex lover turning up, just when things are going so well. The course of events that follow could have a tragic outcome. Will Lizbeth and Gray's love be able survive the consequences of the events that follow?
At last, another delightful romance from the pen of R.E Bradshaw. For me the moral of this book is that yes, life can really begin at forty. Yes, you can start over again from scratch. This book gives hope for anyone that finds themselves in this situation. It is very true to everyday life. This book is wonderfully refreshing and a real must for lovers of fine romance. The descriptions of Ocracoke Island just made me want to book a holiday there. The book is so well written and descriptive, that as a reader I felt at ease among the characters, just like I was viewing it all as it actually happened among friends. I was right there with them. The characters are adorable. The book is a real page turner from the very first page right through to the last page. After each book from R.E Bradshaw, I wonder how she can top the last one, how she can make her stories any better? Well, I have to say she manages it somehow, all her books are nothing but consistently good. I would be hard pressed to pick a favorite among R.E Bradshaw's books. I adore them all. They will always have a permanent place on my book shelves, this one included.

Waking Up Gray Overview

Can you start your life over at forty? Lizbeth Jackson was about to find out. She found her first gray hair on the morning of her trip to Ocracoke Island, off the coast of North Carolina. Lizbeth was about to begin a three month sabbatical, on the scenic coastal island, in order to finish her Master's thesis in Linguistic Anthropology. She plans to study the Carolina Brogue spoken there. What she ends up studying is her lesbian neighbor across the street and the uncontrollable pull Lizbeth feels toward her. Lizbeth Jackson is about to find out what life has to offer, after waking up gray.

Stone Butch Blues: A Novel Review

Author Leslie Feinberg has done a remarkable thing in the writing of Stone Butch Blues. The author has opened her soul to anyone who reads and exposed us each to our own fears of being different no matter how slight it may be. Being a gay male, reading this book was recommeded to me by a lesbian friend. At first I was reading it out of respect for my friend, but I found myself unable to put the book down. The story is endearing to anyone who desires to know more about the human spirit and the need and will to survive. I laughed, cried and saw myself in so many of the fears, questions, lonley times and good times experienced by Jess, the Stone Butch. Thank you Leslie Feinberg for the way you gave us a piece of your soul in the book and allowed us to become a little more accepting of our differences and of who we are.

RAINEY NIGHTS (A Rainey Bell Thriller) Review

With Rainey Bell RE Bradshaw has given us a wonderful complex Ex-FBI character: I loved Rainey Days and Rainey Nights is IMO as good or even better. Again RE delights and haunts us with great visuals: The opening scene is worthy of any Hollywood Movie and you got to love her secondary characters, e.g. Brooks (MORE!). And the story is complex too with several layers and some extras too! This book is not so much a classic "mystery" (although there is a strong element there), but rather a great study of characters, of how to survive a job as difficult as a profiler and about inner strength. The book is action-packed and at some times not for the faint of heart.

RAINEY NIGHTS (A Rainey Bell Thriller) Overview

Women are missing and dying in the Triangle area of North Carolina. One woman holds the key to why. With the conclusion of the Y-Man murders nine months ago and her resignation from the FBI, Former Special Agent and Behavioral Analyst, Rainey Bell has finally found peace and contentment she never thought possible, even if she remains a bit paranoid. Her wariness is well-founded and justified when a monster from her past rears his demonic head. Rainey has faced death and evil before - alone. Now it's different - she has a family to protect, her own. Only Rainey can keep them alive. Or can she? As one reviewer said, "Don't assume you know how this story will end."

Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit Review

Jeanette Winterson's semi-autobiographical novel is one of the most beautifully written story of a middle-class girl struggling to come to terms with her own sexuality, creativity, passion vs. her family/society's inflexible "formed opinions". The story of the persecution of a girl because of her sexual preference (in this case, lesbianism) is not new. It's how Ms. Winterson presents her story. Fresh. Alive. Witty. Funny. Heartbreaking at times. Imaginative. Almost like you were holding a piece of someone's soul in your hands rather than merely a book. I noticed that one reviewer mentioned that the book's sexual nature is vulgar. I do not find this so. Even if it is, so what? Life is vulgar. Only those fond of sweeping the dirt under the carpet so that it stays out of sight (or those who drive lesbian girls from their house/church and pretend they don't exist) will disagree with the innate vulgarity of all life. This book is the antidote for that kind of sanitized thinking. This book exposes that sanitized Christian middle-class thinking is weird, almost alien when observed sanely by a third party standing on the outside. This book celebrates life. Read it.

Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit Overview

Winner of the Whitbread Prize for best first fiction, Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit is a coming-out novel from Winterson, the acclaimed author of The Passion and Sexing the Cherry. The narrator, Jeanette, cuts her teeth on the knowledge that she is one of God's elect, but as this budding evangelical comes of age, and comes to terms with her preference for her own sex, the peculiar balance of her God-fearing household crumbles.

Georgia's English Rose Review

This is an extremely romantic tale set in war time England which is one of the better written small books in this particular genre.
My friend down loaded this on her Kindle and we read it together. I must say that we were both very, very impressed. Not only do we have a very sweet love story, but we have some of the best and hottest lesbian love scenes that either of us has read in a long, long time. No unrealistic action which will appeal strictly to men (although I dare say men will be turned on by this one...big time), but in addition to being highly erotic, they were more realistic. I say this because many of these small stories, or books, have obviously been written by men for men and it shows.
As to the love scenes; the erotic portion of the book...which comprises a great amount of the story, we find no phallic "tools" being used. Not strange objects being stuck into every orifice of the body. Hey folks, toys on occasions are nice...but really! No, the author has these two ladies using what they were given and they use them quite effectively.
Do please keep in mind that this is most certainly an adult book. The subject is lesbian love and lesbian sexual acts and intimate feelings. Some may find this offensive and if the reader falls into this category, then this work should be avoided.
This is one of the better of the inexpensive downloads you can find on Kindle. The story is sweet, it is well written, and it certainly got me wet at the right times.

Georgia's English Rose Overview

In wartime normal rules no longer apply. Georgia and Lillian find themselves posted to a new Radar station on the south coast of England, where they share a small room and try to keep their growing feelings for each other a secret, even to themselves. When Lillian invites Georgia to her home for a weekend visit, the floodgates burst and a passion both of them have been holding back erupts. What starts as a need for mutual relief quickly escalates into a wild, physical passion that neither can control.-----------------------------------------------------Warning: This story contains scenes of explicit lesbian sex, sharing of a bath, wellington boots and Yorkshire puddings, although not necessarily in that order.-----------------------------------------------------SAMPLE:Georgia slid her hand down my side and then inwards. I felt her tug at the tie on my pajama bottoms, tug it, loosen it and then untie it completely. One side dropped to the mattress. Georgia lifted the other and laid it back over my hip. I felt air cool against my lower belly. Felt air touch my pubic hair. I was almost completely exposed, and I didn't care. No, that was wrong, I wanted to be naked like Georgia, wanted to be naked for Georgia. She moved above to me, our bare breasts touching now, and I shivered again."You're not cold are you, honey?" she breathed."Hot," I said."That's good. I wanna kiss you again, Lil. I wanna kiss you so goddamn much.""Kiss me then, Georgia," I said, and as she did I lay back and she came over on top of me, her mouth on my mouth, opening against my lips, and I moved against her as her leg slid over mine and her thigh pressed between my legs. I wanted to move my tongue, wanted to lick her lips and tried to stop myself in case it disgusted her, but my tongue wouldn't listen, it had a life of its own and I let it go where it wanted. I ran the tip of my tongue along Georgia's full bottom lip and heard her gasp. Then her tongue came back and did the same to me. Our lips met again, mouths open, and this time my tongue went past her lips and I found hers coming to meet mine. I think I groaned. I know I felt Georgia's lips vibrate on mine.My hands stroked her silky back, running up and down the muscled length, and then I let them stray down and rest against the first bloom of her full ass. I rolled the globes in my palms and felt her push against me, grinding her pubic hair against my leg, which lay trapped between hers. Her pussy was so wet. It pressed against my thigh and I felt her labia flatten against my skin. Somehow as we moved my pajama bottoms worked themselves further down and were now below my knees. As soon as Georgia gave me space I would kick them off and we would both be naked. It felt as if my entire body was being licked with fire.Georgia's mouth lifted from mine, but only so that she could kiss my neck. I arched my back, feeling the tingle run straight down to that eager point between my legs. Georgia was wet down there, but I felt like I was leaking."You remember what we did in the bath?" I said, beyond shyness now."How could I forget, honey?" Georgia pecked at my chin, my earlobes, my neck. Her hand stroked my breasts, found my nipples and tugged them."I think I'm going to have to do that again," I said.
